Our Board of Directors is full of inspiring and socially, civically engaged individuals who serve in various leadership roles throughout Wayne County. These dynamic individuals bring together a unique set of skills that will guide thoughtful decision making processes.
Sherita Johnson, Founder/CEO
Mrs. Johnson has been working in the transportation business for over 10 years providing non-emergency transportation in the Metro Detroit area. Mrs. Johnson founded Champions of Tomorrow Inc. in an effort to increase access to education, employment and participation in community life for the individuals who need it the most.
Marguerite & Scarlett Maddox, Special Needs Advocacy
Ms. Maddox is very involved in and around the local community having volunteered at the Great Lakes Center for Independent Living. As a hearing impaired individual, Ms. Maddox currently serves as an advocate for the special needs community throughout the Region. Ms. Maddox recently received The Spirit of Detroit award for a decade of advocacy -for increased handicap accessibility -in Detroit.
Jim Muir, Detroit SCORE
Mr. Muir is currently the Chapter Chair with SCORE Detroit. SCORE is a volunteer organization with 60 members in the Detroit Metro area. His small business skills include business plan development, start-up and operating financials, feasibility analysis and generally thinking through the process of starting, expanding and operating a small business.
Mr. Muir has a BA from Michigan State University and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University. He is a native Detroiter and a Marine Corps Veteran. He is active in a variety of other local organizations.
Tina Maddox, State of Michigan/Protective Services
Ms. Maddox has her Master’s Degree in Social Work and 10+ years of experience in the field. She currently serves as a child welfare advocate, assisting families providing healthy and safe homes for children in Wayne County, MI.
Sheila Blanding, Nurse Practitioner
Ms. Blanding has served in advocacy roles for teenage moms. Her most recent work involves finding home placement for the special needs population
Sanja Doakes, Purchasing Manager, MGM Grand
Ms. Doakes has been in the work force for 44 plus years in the field working as a Purchasing Agent for The Detroit Medical Center and currently MGM Grand Detroit Casino, LLC.
Ms. Doakes has a Masters in Human Resource Management.
